Frequently Asked Questions
1. What services do you offer?
We offer dog boarding, dog daycare, cat boarding, grooming & bathing, drop-in visits, dog walking, pet transportation, and select add-on services.
2. Is COCO’S HOME a traditional kennel?
No. COCO’S HOME provides home-style pet care in a residential environment, rather than a traditional commercial kennel setting.
We focus on creating a comfortable daily routine with supervised play, rest, feeding, and individualized attention.
3. Do you accept both dogs and cats?
Yes! 🐶🐱
We welcome both dogs and cats. Cats have their own separate area away from the dogs, providing them with a quieter and more comfortable environment.
4. Do you require a Meet & Greet before the first stay?
For new dogs joining group care, we may recommend a Meet & Greet before their first stay.
This allows us to learn about your dog’s temperament, routine, social behavior, feeding habits, and any special needs.
For some dogs, we may also recommend a short trial daycare or trial stay before a longer boarding reservation.
5. What vaccinations are required?
Pets should be up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations before staying with us.
Please let us know in advance if your pet has a medical reason for not receiving a particular vaccine.
6. Do you accept puppies and kittens?
Yes. Puppies and kittens must be at least 8 weeks old and have received age-appropriate vaccinations.
Young pets may require additional supervision or individualized care.
7. Does my dog need to be friendly with other dogs?
Dogs participating in group activities should be reasonably comfortable around other dogs.
Not every dog needs to be highly social. We can adjust playgroups and provide separation when appropriate. However, dogs with serious or unpredictable aggression may not be suitable for group care.
8. How do you decide which dogs can play together?
We consider each dog’s size, age, temperament, energy level, play style, and behavior when arranging group activities.
Dogs may be separated or given rest breaks whenever necessary. We do not simply place every dog together in one group.
9. Where does my dog sleep at night?
Sleeping arrangements depend on your dog’s needs and the type of care selected.
Dogs may sleep in a crate, designated indoor area, living area, or another appropriate space.
Please tell us about your dog’s normal sleeping routine before their stay.
10. Will my dog be crated?
Crates may be used for sleeping, feeding, rest periods, transportation, or temporary separation for safety.
If your dog cannot safely or comfortably stay in a crate, please let us know before booking so we can discuss alternative arrangements.
11. What should I bring for boarding?
Please bring enough of your pet’s regular food and any necessary medications for the entire stay.
You may also bring familiar items such as a bed, blanket, crate, or favorite toy. We recommend avoiding anything extremely valuable or irreplaceable.
12. Can you accommodate special diets and medications?
In many cases, yes.
Please provide clear instructions for medications, supplements, prescription diets, allergies, feeding schedules, and other special requirements.
More complex medical needs may require discussion before the reservation is accepted.
13. Will I receive photos and videos during my pet’s stay?
Yes! 📸
We regularly take photos and videos so you can see how your pet is doing.
The frequency of updates may vary depending on the service, length of stay, and daily schedule.
14. Do you offer pet pickup and drop-off?
Yes. Pet transportation is available by appointment, including local pickup/drop-off and certain O’Hare Airport arrangements.
Availability and pricing depend on distance, timing, and the number of pets traveling.
15. What are your drop-off and pickup hours?
Our normal service hours are 8:00 AM–8:00 PM.
Drop-off and pickup are by appointment so we can properly manage the pets already in our care. Please contact us in advance if your schedule changes.
16. Can I tour the pet care areas before booking?
Visits and Meet & Greets must be scheduled in advance. We do not accept walk-in tours.
For the safety and comfort of pets currently staying with us, access to certain areas may occasionally be limited during feeding, rest, or active care.
17. What happens if my pet becomes sick or injured?
We will contact you as soon as reasonably possible.
If urgent veterinary care is necessary and we cannot immediately reach you, we may seek appropriate veterinary treatment according to the emergency authorization provided at booking.
Pet owners are generally responsible for veterinary expenses related to their pet unless otherwise agreed upon or required by law.
18. Do you accept pets with separation anxiety or behavioral issues?
Possibly. Every pet is evaluated individually.
Please tell us before booking about separation anxiety, escape attempts, resource guarding, bite history, destructive behavior, excessive barking, or other significant behavioral concerns.
Providing accurate information helps us determine the safest and most appropriate care arrangement.
19. Are there any pets you cannot accept?
We may decline pets with serious aggression, uncontrolled contagious illness, active fleas or parasites, or medical or behavioral needs that we cannot safely manage.
We reserve the right to determine whether our environment is appropriate for an individual pet.
20. Do you accept dogs that are not spayed or neutered?
Yes, intact dogs may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
Please let us know in advance if your dog is not spayed or neutered. Dogs in heat or dogs displaying hormone-related behaviors that create safety concerns may require separation or may not be eligible for group activities.
